AI-Native Software Delivery

Coined by Skaftor

AI-Native Software DeliveryAI-native software delivery is a way of building software in which humans express intent and AI agents do most of the implementation, while a system of record captures the intent, orchestrates the agents, governs each change, and remembers how and why every line was shipped.

Traditional software delivery assumes a human writes each line of code and carries the surrounding context in their head. AI-native software delivery inverts that: code generation becomes cheap and fast, so the scarce resources become coordination, governance, and memory. The work shifts from writing lines to directing outcomes and proving they are correct.

In practice, an AI-native delivery system does four things: it captures business and technical intent as structured artifacts; it compiles that intent into agent-executable work orders; it dispatches those to coding agents (over a protocol such as MCP) and governs the results with gates, blast-radius checks, and drift detection; and it records every relationship in an engineering memory graph so the organization never forgets how its software was built.

Skaftor is the system of record for AI-native software delivery — the layer that makes this workflow governable and repeatable across an organization rather than ad hoc per developer.

Frequently asked questions

How is AI-native software delivery different from using an AI coding assistant?

An AI coding assistant helps one developer write code faster inside the editor. AI-native software delivery is an organization-wide operating model: intent is captured centrally, agents are orchestrated from structured specs, every change is governed, and the full history is remembered in a shared graph. The assistant is a tool; AI-native delivery is the system around it.

What breaks when teams adopt AI coding agents without changing their process?

Code volume rises faster than the organization can plan, review, and remember it — the Orchestration Gap. Symptoms include agent-written code nobody understands, silent spec drift, unclear change impact (blast radius), and lost institutional memory. A system of record for AI-native delivery is what closes that gap.
