Building work orders

Choose where coding agents build — Skaftor Cloud, your own cloud, or your machine — pick the agent, watch progress, answer questions, and control cost.

Select "Build" on a work order — or "Start development" for a whole feature — and pick where the agent works.

Where the agent works

  • Skaftor Cloud (recommended) — a fresh workstation with the repo, the branch and the agent ready. Nothing to install.
  • Your cloud — a VM (or Kubernetes, on Google Cloud) in your organisation's connected Google Cloud or AWS account.
  • This machine — open the checkout in your own editor with the work order's context wired in through MCP. Nothing is billed by Skaftor; your editor's agent does the work on its own plan.

Choose the agent

In the cloud, the coding agent is Claude Code, Codex, Gemini or DeepSeek. Claude Code is always available; the others need that provider's key in "AI keys & limits". On this machine you can open the work order in Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini or DeepSeek — Cursor and VS Code get a one-click "Connect & open".

Branch and cost

Use a new branch (named wo/… by default) or an existing one. Before you start, the sheet shows the estimated hourly cost for compute and disk. Cloud builds ask you to confirm ("Yes, start building") after showing the cost. Each run bills to your organisation's key and stops at the work order's budget or the monthly cap.

While it builds

Progress moves through "Workstation started", "Repo cloned, branch checked out", "Implementing", "Verifying against the acceptance criteria" and "Pull request". "Watch live" streams the output. If the agent has a question, "Answer the agent" — the workstation keeps billing while it waits. On a feature's Build tab you can "Pause" and "Resume" the queue; boxes already running carry on.

Stopping a run keeps the branch. A stopped workstation still bills for its disk until it's deleted.
